Apple Jack Moonshine Cocktail

I would encourage folks to serve this like a punch…make it in a large batch and serve it for a party or store it in the fridge. It is perfect for the holidays! Make it a few days in advance so the flavors have a chance to mellow.

1 gallons apple cider
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
2 - 2inch pieces ginger
3 star anise
4 lemons (halved)
2 oranges (halved)
750ml moonshine

Bring the cider, sugars, spices and citrus to a simmer. Simmer 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow this to steep an additional 15 minutes. Stir in the moonshine. Refrigerate and allow this to rest overnight at the very least in order for all the flavors to mellow. Serve over ice.
